Justin The Artistic Horse’s spokesperson and owner, Adonna Combs, said she recognized his talent when he grabbed her riding whip and began drawing in the sand. Adonna, who has a degree in fine art, wondered if he was trying to tell her something.  She got some paint, poster board and tied a brush to the end of her crop and Justin seemed to understand exactly what to do. 
Thus, an artist was born!

“Painting with Justin is magical, there is a beautiful harmony between us”. Adonna starts by choosing a few colors inspired nature. She dips the brush in the paint and hands it to him, he takes over from there finding new colors by blending his own colors on the canvas. “The vibrancy of the colors create the impact of the paintings. Often the contrast between loose and tight areas and simple colors come together in an explosive way. There are always surprises along the way the unexpected usually improves the paintings in ways that humans couldn’t have imagined. When he paints he is in the moment and enjoys the process”. 

His personality and artwork touch people in many ways. Many adults are emotionally moved when viewing his work and appreciate the equine energy put forth to create the unique pieces. Children are inspired by the non-traditional artist some say he’s magic, some say he’s messy, some say they want to be just like him when they grow up, but everyone agrees that he can really paint.

            “Being paired with this unique horse has been a blessing. He has challenged me to experiment with my imagination and use my creative talents in new ways. I’ve learned to be loose, spontaneous and take life in stride. It is as if he had this in mind all along”.
